I found some old bulbs in the garden shed (several years old). Any good still?
I have some old ranunculus and dahlias that were never planted and have been in packages for several years. Do you suppose they are still any good?

Are any good sprays (not insectides) available on the market to seal off the gaps in the panels to prevent entry through the cracks. I don’t want a vanish as this will be noticeable and only small sections of the shed are affected. I hope you have some good suggestions and thank you for the time you spend on the response. Colin

Plastic Decking And Key Advantages For Years To Come

When one uses plastic decking to either replace an existing deck or to build one brand new, it will be important to know what makes this method the best. Spring and summertime both bring expectations and excitement to homes everywhere, as outside activities are being planned. To get the most of the nice weather during this time of year will depend on the environment that a home provides, like comfortable seating and a nice deck.
Wooden decks, which can be found at most homes across America cannot be enjoyed from one year to the next without extensive cleaning, staining and other preparations. Wooden pieces that have become splintered from the elements will also have to be repaired before use, due to potential dangers. Much time and effort is required for decks such as these, which ultimately takes away from the fun that one could be experiencing.
There is now another option to choose from when building a deck that requires almost no maintenance or attention. It is a decking plastic that is made up of wood and plastics that have been thrown away and recycled. Wooden items such as saw dust, wooden pallets and plastic grocery bags are used in the process to make such a product.
By using unwanted materials to create this type of plastic used for decking, landfills are kept from being overfilled with tons of scrap wood and plastic. It is instead, put to good use and provides a beautiful platform to enjoy time outdoors.
The outcome of meshing the two, a new product is created and promised to be maintenance free. Preparing for nicer weather, cleaning of a deck made from this material will only have to be done periodically and will do away with the need for purchasing cleaning products, stains and equipment all together.
Bad weather and insects have also known to play havoc on decks, causing them to deteriorate at a fast rate. With the use of this recycled material to build decking, this is no longer a danger and it also provides an area that is free of splinters and hazards that may cause injury. Even when wet, it still retains traction, making it the perfect choice for surrounding pools, spas and hot tubs.
Moisture and sunlight can be harmful to wooden decks, but not for plastic decking. There are no worries when it comes to toxic chemicals or preservatives and will retain its beauty for a very long time.
This awesome decking product can be installed by the own or a contractor who is licensed and insured. It can be purchased by individual companies that specialize in this, but it can also be found at some home improvement centers.
Research and planning will be very useful when determining style and other qualities that a homeowner would like to have in a deck. This can be done using on-line sources, idea magazines and home improvement books for assembling plastic decking. In the end, one will be very proud of their efforts while enjoying such a treat with their family and friends.

Getting Ready For Springtime Gardening With This Year’s Must Have Tools

Spring is just around the corner! It’s time to get the seeds and bulbs ready for planting! Have a landscaping project you’re dying to start? Now’s the time to begin. As the snow begins to melt, the rain goes away, and the sun emerges from behind the clouds, you know that spring is arriving. Garden Winds has a few gardening and landscaping tools to help you get started on your outdoor project.
WheelEasy
Voted one of the top ten gardening products by a major metropolitan newspaper, this garden cart is in a league of its own. Unlike any other wheelbarrow available out there on the market, WheelEasy’s unique, soft-sided canvas barrow lays flat on the ground. All you have to do is sweep, rake, roll, slide, or drag dirt, grass, or leaves directly onto the canvas barrow itself. The great thing about it is that there is no heavy or awkward lifting required! It has a capacity of carrying about 350lbs, and folds for easy and compact storage. The lower center of gravity and self-centering design cradles and stabilizes tricky and hard to handle loads. Its ergonomic design also reduces strain and impact on the lower part of the body, specifically the lower back.
The Gardener
If you have trouble getting on your knees to garden, then the Gardener is a useful tool where you can access all of your instruments while sitting. It is a polyester folding chair with steel frame. This compact bag/chair comes with five popular garden tools and a detachable storage section. This innovative item is ideal for any landscaping project. With a sturdy chair and a durable bag and tools, the Gardener will become a favorite for those with green thumbs. The detachable bag allows for various uses, and creates a convenient storage compartment if needed. It includes: 1 trowel, 1 spade, 1 weeder, 1 hand held rake, and 1 garden fork.
Garden Metro Basket
This handy, portable basket is the perfect companion for any nature lover. It is lightweight and collapsible, making it easy to tow and stow away. The basket has an aluminum frame and is made out of a sturdy polyvinyl fabric, is stain resistant, and durable. It is perfect for carrying seedlings and flowers that are ready to be planted. The garden metro basket includes three garden tools with wooden handles (fork, trowel, and cultivator), and has a water resistant base.
Botanical and Herbal Plant Tags
Unsure of what vegetables or flowers you planted? Make identifying your growing garden easy by labeling them with plant tags. The soft rubber tags are weather durable and are UV treated for use year round. The tags are pad printed with artist designed botanical and herbal drawings. Just use a gel ink ball point pen to mark your favorite foliage!
Garden Caddy
If constantly kneeling on the ground when working on the yard takes a toll on the knees (and entire body), then a Garden Caddy may be the best solution that makes working outdoors safer and easier. It is a chair on four wheels, and its 360 degree swivel base allows absolute freedom of movement. The large, heavy duty tires make it ideal for rough and tough outdoor terrain as you enjoy pruning, harvesting, or planting. Tools and supplies are within close reach with a handy built-in storage shelf located just underneath the seat. A Garden Caddy in your tool shed will make your gardening tasks easy and pain free!
Conservatory Greenhouse
A greenhouse is a building or structure where plants are grown. Its walls and roofs are mostly made out of either glass or plastic. The incoming rays of the sun heat the greenhouse up, warming plants, soil and other things faster than the heat can escape from the building. The warm air and heat from the hot interior surfaces is maintained inside the building by the roof and wall. Greenhouses range from small sheds to large, conservatory size buildings.
For the botanist in the family, the Conservatory Greenhouse is a gardener’s dream! Its design is compact, and lightweight for easy transport, setup, and take down. No assembly required! The door to this personal plant house is located in the middle for maximum use of space inside. The screened vent openings provide optimal air circulation, allowing plants and flowers to thrive. Straps are attached to the side of the door and above the vents to hold it open while working inside or for ventilating your greenhouse. When the vents are open, the air circulates, preparing plants to be placed in the ground. When the vents are closed, the plants remain protected from insects, birds, and other pests. It also keeps the plants safe from the elements, such as, wind, frost, and snow. With a Conservatory Greenhouse, you have the ability to continue your hobby all year round!
Let Garden Winds help you get started on planting your first seeds and flowers in time for spring! There are many helpful tools and devices that will aid you in making that gardening idea come to life. It is all about making life easier, simpler, and more enjoyable. And our products will help you reach your ultimate landscaping goals.

Perennial seeds allow you to establish a fixed garden for a reasonable cost. Much less expensive than purchasing grown plants at the local garden store, seeds have little transport cost and can sit around for a long time before they will germinate. They are an ideal to increase the beauty of your garden.
Seeds need to be planted early enough in the season so that they can go into the ground as seedlings when the danger of killing frost is over. Young plants need more protection than established ones, so give yourself some extra time before you plant your seedlings if there is any concern. If you do have an unexpected frost, mulching or covering the seedlings may help save them.
Utilizing seeds instead of nursery bought plants allows you to get exactly what you want. Many companies are now focusing on heirloom flowers, things that aren’t available in any do-it-yourself mega-store. In addition to their unusual appearance, heirlooms tend to be hardier in certain climates to which they are accustomed. You will have a garden that is the envy of the neighborhood, filled with flowers and plants that no one else has found.
It may seem that using seeds will slow down the development of your garden. The truth is that most seeds germinate within two to four weeks. If you want to, you can plant any perennial seeds directly into the ground, accepting that you will lose some seeds to hungry birds. Once the plants sprout up, they will continue to generate their own replacements. Let some of the flower heads go to seed and you can reseed an area that looks like it needs some additional help. Remember, perennials bloom year after year and don’t need to be replaced, just cut back. Perennial seeds give you the best of both worlds, affordability and permanence.
