Ok, I assume the answer is no. But under a boil water advisory, can you use it to water your vegetable garden? What about if it doesn’t contact the fruit or vegetables?

I’ve decided to grow my own patio vegetable and fruit garden. My patio is not very large but with the right amount of planning I should be able to get a rather nice harvest. This video will be the first in a series of videos that will follow my progress as well as the progress of my plants. In theory, I should have some food in about 30,40, 50 days from now ;-) Update #1 www.youtube.com Update # 2 www.youtube.com Herb Garden Starter Kit from Amazon tinyurl.com

It seems to me that garage-based hydroponics might be more effective than planting a victory garden. In a moderate climate, what does it take to operate a hydroponic vegetable garden at home?

Vegetable Garden in Phoenix

This is my first garden. I started the project thinking we’d just have 1 or 2 raised beds but it turned into something much bigger. Everything is done organically (no pesticides, no chemical fertilizers etc.) and “veganically” (without the use of manure, blood meal, bone meal or any kind of animal product). 99% of the vegetables are “heirloom” or “open-pollinated” meaning the seed has been bred true and saved for at least 50 years and will continue to breed true when you save the seed…as opposed to a “hybrid” which has generally been bred for appearance, shelf life, yield, disease resistance but rarely taste. A saved hybrid seed will not breed true to the vegetable you saved it from. My family and I built the structure. I started everything by seed, mostly indoors under a grow-light system. What I’m growing now: Tomatoes Peppers Eggplant Basil Squash Cucumbers Watermelon Cantaloupe Mint Green Beans Calendula (for tea) Tepary Beans Onions Garlic Indian Corn Strawberries Okra Tomatillo Sunflowers Parsley Amaranth What I grew over the winter: Lettuce Kale Rapini Broccoli Arugula Beets Carrots Peas Bok Choy Spigariello On an unrelated note, check out the band I’m in with my 3 brothers. www.kongos.com

I use cloth pads and soak them in a bucket of cold water when I’m done. Is it safe to use this water on my vegetable garden? I’ve heard it makes a great fertilizer.
Edit: Wow, I can tell most of you can’t read. I didnt say I’ve been doing it it, I asked if it was safe. Very closed minded people.

I have a roughly 20′X3′ area in the backyard that would be perfect for a vegetable garden. Having grown up in the city I have very little clue about gardening.
Where do I start to gain knowledge about gardening and specifically about vegetable gardens. The vegetables/herbs/fruits I would like to grow would be tomatoes, parsely, lemons, etc. Suggestions on what is possible are also very welcome.

I am looking for recommendations on books, websites, etc.

I am in central California, USA.

Thanks very much in anticipation of your replies.

Regards!

I am looking to start my first garden, but don’t know where to begin,I would like to plant some flowers and some vegetables.(tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, cilantro ect..)

I was given a plot layout years ago for a vegetable garden but of course I’ve missed placed it. I remember being told that you can’t plant potatoes and onions together. Now I’m worried that I’m going to fail before I even really begin.
