Birthday Party Pirate Theme

Most children love pirates and this is a fantastic idea for a children’s birthday party. A pirate themed party is easy to achieve and throughout this article you will find great ideas and inspiration to help you. You can even include pirate fancy dress to really make your party a success.

When it comes to invitations for a pirate party the best suggestion has to be treasure map invitations. These are really easy to make and all you need is some paper that looks old and some colored pens for drawing your map. Be sure to mark your house with a big X. You can roll the invitations up and send them out like scrolls.

Decorating your house for a pirate themed party is very easy and if you have a wooden toy box this will be perfect for creating a pirate treasure box. Inside the box you can have plenty of gold covered chocolate coins and some candy necklaces too. These will look like real treasure to all your guests. Other decorations include fake parrots and pirate flags which you can purchase in any good party store. The colors that you will use throughout your home for a pirate themed party are black, white and red. As an additional touch you can make your own pirate cutlasses using cardboard and you can also use long balloons which will be great for sword fights.

Pirate themed party food should include fish and biscuits as this was the diet that pirates lived on especially when they were at sea. Tuna sandwiches and fish sticks can be served along with a selection of biscuits. If you want to include some healthy alternatives in your party food you can buy some sword shaped toothpicks which you can place in pieces of fruit and cheese. Rum was the drink of pirates and ginger ale works really well as an alternative for children. You can also include decorated cupcakes in your party food line up and these can have pirate flags, parrots and even treasure maps on them.

When it comes to pirate themed parties one of the favorite games is a treasure hunt. In order to create the perfect treasure hunt you will need to hide your treasure chest and then create a series of treasure maps for your guests to follow. Be sure to place clues on the map and divide all the children into groups of four. Give each group a map and send them on their way. It is great fun and the children will have a fabulous time solving the clues and searching for the treasure.

Children love to dress up so why not make your pirate themed party a fancy dress one too. You can hire a wide range of pirate costumes and these will add to the excitement. No pirate costume would be complete without a sword, eye patch, hat and scarf. You can even buy a fake parrot to place on your shoulder if you like. A very popular pirate costume is that of Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie and most good costume stores will have these in all sizes.

In the weeks leading up to the party why not keep an eye open when shopping for small trinkets in discount shops. Small bags of soldiers, eye patches and fancy dress items are just the type of things that you can pick up at very reasonable prices and are perfect as party bag presents.

I’m sure you will agree, a pirate themed party is a great idea and one that is not to difficult to achieve. By using the information and tips in this article you will be able to give your child a pirate party that they are sure to remember.
