Shopping Online For Garden Plants Makes It Easy

These days with technology as it is you can shop online for almost anything, and shopping online for garden plants is so much easier than getting the car out, finding a garden centre, parking up, and then wandering around aimlessly trying to find what you want.
The easiest way to shop for all your garden plants is sit at your computer and browse through the website for what you want. Be guided by the headings, categories, and sub headings, and you can drill down to very explicit information about all your garden plants, when to plant, how to plant, where to plant, best soil type, how much water the plant needs and so much more.
For the layman the terms perennial plants, annuals, biennials, and herbaceous may be double Dutch to you, but learning all about different plants can give so much pleasure if just starting out and making gardening your new hobby.
A perennial plant comes from the Latin per, ‘through’ annus ‘year’. It is a plant that lives for more than two years. This term is often used to differentiate a plant from shorter lived annuals and biennials and sometimes commercial gardeners or horticulturalists describe only herbaceous perennials, when more correctly woody plants like shrubs and trees are also perennials.
Perennials grow and bloom over the spring and summer and then die back every autumn and winter, they of course return in the spring from their root rather than seeding themselves as an annual plant does. These are known as herbaceous perennials, but some gardeners treat a perennial as an annual and do in fact plant out every year, from seed, from cuttings or from dividing them up.

Perennial plants can be short-lived or they can be long-lived, such as some woody plants like trees which can live for over 4,000 years. They vary in height from only a few millimetres to over 100 metres tal, and include a wide assortment of plant groups from ferns to flowering plants like orchids and grasses.
More and more people are growing their own fruit and vegetables, and perennial fruits include apple, blackcurrant, pear, plum raspberries, strawberries, and if space is a problem then use these plants as hanging basket plants and hang up on walls, they look good, and is a brilliant space saver.
The perennial range of vegetable plants encompasses potato, rhubarb, shallot, chives, leek, and many more, and planting out this lot will feed the family for a long time, not forgetting one can freeze what is not used all at once.
Garden bulbs are a prime example of perennial plants, one can leave in year in year out and they will bloom at the same time year after year, the beauty of these plants is they can be planted in amongst other shrubs, and look absolutely beautiful, planted around Lavender plants which are found in almost every English garden and, furthermore, are a source of flavouring for food.
