Visiting Your Local Garden Centre

As a gardener I personally cannot wait for Spring to arrive. I can think of nothing better than visiting the local garden centres in Spring.Tesco Garden Furniture is a great place to do your research before venturing to your local garden centre.

All UK garden centers offer two basic categories of growing stock – annuals and perennials. Be very careful when choosing as if you dont know what you are looking for you could have a lot of problems later on.

Perenials come in many shapes and sizes, so you cannot rely on size alone to distinguish between perennials and annuals.

Many perennials will come with old fashioned names and are the more traditional side of the modern garden centre. Perennials will be the main feature of your garden unlike annuals which are trendy and showy. Winter will kill your annuals as they cannot survive the cold weather and you will need to plant again the following Spring.

Amazing colours and sizes of plants will jump out at you when you visit a garden centre and these are generally annuals. Each different species promises to deliver a memorable addition to the garden, even though that garden is, for the time being, nothing more than a mound of yet-tilled earth and vague images of what it was, and can be again. Larger garden centres usually have their own nursery which means that the annuals are usually freshly picked.

Of course, a garden center also showcases a large supporting cast of implements and tools of all descriptions, soil and gravel in bins, bags and bushel baskets, nutrients and fertilizers that somehow assist you in ensuring success in fulfilling the potential of each of the varieties of nature you ultimately choose to make the dream come true.

Patience, knowledge and a lot of practise will be needed if you are wanting to become a successful gardener, unfortunately it is not something that can be picked up overnight.

If you want to produce professional looking gardens then you will need a lot of experience and knowledge and there is no better places to help with this than reading a lot of garden related books and joining an online gardening forum. Experience through reading is one thing but nothing beats getting your hands dirty and experimenting in your garden on a nice fresh Spring day.

Beyond the subjective and personal experience, horticulture is also a science, well-supported by factual information on the right care and appropriate conditions to master just about anything that grows on you; the real magic happens when you have the opportunity to combine all of these information sources. Being able to offer this expert advice, the horticultural staff becomes an invaluable addition to your successful gardening arsenal.
